The Husky 100 is a tri-campus award that recognizes 100 UW students from the Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma campuses who are making the most of their time at UW. Recently the UW unveiled the inaugural Husky 100 class, and quite a few of the students recognized have been affiliated with First Year Programs!
The Husky 100 is an award that began this year, 2016. The application process was open to juniors, seniors and matriculated graduate students from all three campuses and included resume submission, personal statements, and letters of recommendation. The students that were selected will be recognized this spring quarter and have profiles on the new Husky 100 website. Additionally, they receive opportunities to network with faculty, access to an exclusive LinkedIn group and customized counseling from the Career Center, and invitations to events hosted by the president and provost.
10 of these 100 aspiring students have worked within our office in various capacities. Karl Gapuz, Leah Litwak, Daniel Yusupov, Haley Amemiya and Eric Chen have all led First-year Interest Groups (FIGs) for one or more years. Mayowa Aina led a FIG as well as served as an Orientation Leader in 2013, as did John Dahl in 2014. Elizabeth Oestreich assisted with Dawg Daze as a Team Captain the summer of 2015. Finally, Kaitlin Schreiber and Anna Maher have worked as an Orientation Leader and FIG Leader respectively, and then joined the office as the Student Coordinators for their respective capacities.
A huge congratulations to all of the students who make up the Husky 100, and thank you to those that have assisted us in the past!
