Commuter & Transfer Commons

A dedicated space in the HUB providing services to students who commute or have transferred to the UW

The Commuter & Transfer Commons (CTC) offers lockers for day use, a kitchenette, and a study area. Please note, you will need your Husky ID Card to enter the space.

The CTC is open Monday–Friday during the academic year.

Hours and space information

Mon–Fri: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Hours vary during finals week. Closed during holidays, breaks, and the summer quarter.
Find us in Room 141 of the Husky Union Building. We are on the southwest side of the HUB, past the Lyceum on the 1st floor.

Our Resources

Kitchenette
Keep your lunch cold or heat it up in our kitchenette! For day-use, we have a fridge, microwaves, hot water dispenser and toaster!
Day Use Lockers
Store your heavy books and backpack in our lockers. Space is big enough to fit a bike helmet or motorcycle helmet. Lockers are day-use check out only and are offered on a first-come first-served basis, but commuter and transfer students have priority. HUB offers long-term locker rentals.
Changing Room & Lactation Station
This private room has a chair, table, mini-fridge, soft lighting, a hand-washing station, and power adapters. The station provides a clean and private alternative to using a bathroom or other public space. Use of this space is possible on days when the CTC is closed — check in with the HUB front desk for access.
New Husky Networks
New Husky Networks are groups of incoming students who share common interests or backgrounds. For more information on what networks are offered and how to get involved visit: New Husky Networks.
Build a puzzle or play a game
Need a study break? The CTC offers a variety of board games and puzzles for use.
Study Area
Need a place to study? Join us in our study area where you can use the large mobile white boards for problem solving or group work.
Dawg Prints and Tech Rentals
Print your papers before class at our Dawg Prints station. We also have technology rentals such as laptops (reserve here: NSTP Check Out) and phone chargers.
Staff & Faculty — Reserve the CTC
The CTC is open for staff and faculty to hold gatherings. We want the space to continue to be used by students, and we welcome additional opportunities for student engagement.
