Course Registration

Purpose: Meet with your assigned adviser and register for your first quarter of classes as a Husky! Most course-registration sessions will take place in a small group setting. Focus your questions on the upcoming quarter—your adviser will be available after A&O to help you plan future quarters! Be sure you understand how to schedule a follow-up appointment after A&O for any additional needs.

We can add links for direct admits to the Agendas but they will be viewable by ALL students

First Year, US & INTL

First Year Course Registration Questions

Use the flow of questions and chart below to determine which Registration Foundation option is best for your department.

How many rotations do you want to do?
- How many total students for the quarter are you planning to admit?
- How many total advisers are planning to see students during A&O?
- How many people do you want in your registration lab rooms?
Are your students seeing OMAD for this session, or are they coming to appointments with you?
- If they are meeting with you for Course Registration, you must choose at least 1 rotation in either A, B, and/or C
Are you hosting FY INTL and FY US populations on the same day?
- Yes → for "Option" you may select combo, but don't have to
- No → for "Option" select Solo
If hosting US and INTL on the same day, do you want to see your FY INTL and FY US students together in the same space?
- Yes → for "Option" select combo. INTL first-years can only be in rotation A

Does the total number of students per rotation, the number of rotations, and the number of dates equal the total number of students you expect to admit?

Do you have Direct Admits to your major?
- Yes → for "Option" select one of the advising options.
- No → Please plan to connect with Pre-major students after A&O.
If you have Direct Admits, what type of advising do you want to do?
- Select the "Option" of the advising types that matches your needs. Use the questions below to help you determine which is best for you.
  - If you want more time with your students, add in a Registration Foundation session during the morning of A&O.
- How many total students for the quarter are you planning to admit? How many total advisers are planning to see students during A&O?
- Do you want to meet with students as part of their A&O experience, or would you rather have students set up appointments with you "Beyond A&O" using your booking link?
  - This "Beyond A&O" meeting could be before or after their actual A&O date (they register with you and attend A&O on a different day to learn the mechanics of registration & the UW degree).
  - If you want to see students during A&O, determine your capacity. If you are admitting a large number of students and only have 1 adviser, you may need to do group advising to see everyone.

How many FY US and FY INTL students do you have in the final makeup session?
- Determine your adviser's capacity to see the number of students in the session.
Due to the smaller number of students in the session, determine if you want to do a solo or combo session for FY US and FY INTL.
- Note if this is a change from your previous sessions.
If you had support in your Zoom room for the other sessions, I'd plan to do the same structure for the makeup session as well. *Note- that the sessions are smaller, so they will likely end early.
