Registration Foundations

Purpose: Meet your assigned advising team to learn about course selection. Learn the basic components of earning a degree at UW and create a plan for exploring classes related to your academic interests. This will prepare you for course registration later on your agenda.

Hosted in the Adviser's Schedule Meeting Room. If the session is larger than 300 people, it must be in an NSTP room with the extra add-on for up to 1000 people
Option for NSTP to hire students to help host these spaces. Preference would be for depts to hire and train their own staff for these sessions- NSTP can help pay
We can add links for direct admits to the Agendas but they will be viewable by ALL students
If direct admit departments don't host their own Registration Foundations morning session, students will attend the UAA or OMA&D session with pre-major students.

First Year Registration Foundations Questions

Do you want your students to attend the Q&A Academic Interest sessions with College of Arts & Sciences advisers for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences or Math & Science topics?
- Yes→ for "Option" select Standard
- No → for "Option" select Extended
Are you hosting FY INTL and FY US populations on the same day?
- Yes → for "Option" you may select Combo, but don't have to (see question 3)
- No → for "Option" select Solo
Do you want to see your FY INTL and FY US students together in the same space?
- Yes → for "Option" select Combo. For the extended option, note that the INTL students will have to leave at 10:45 am partway into the session, and the US students will stay for 1 more hour
- No → for "Option" select Solo
Do you need support in your Zoom room for this session?
- Yes → Do you have students that you can hire and train that NSTP can pay for? Or do you need NSTP to hire students for your session (it is very unlikely the NSTP student will be in your department's major)

How many FY US and FY INTL students do you have in the final makeup session?
- Determine your adviser's capacity to see the number of students in the session.
Due to the smaller number of students in the session, determine if you want to do a solo or combo session for FY US and FY INTL.
- **Please note if this is a change from your previous sessions
If you had support in your Zoom room for the other sessions, I'd plan to do the same structure for the makeup session as well.
- **Please note that the sessions are smaller, so they will likely end early.
