The First-Year Experience and the NASPA Conference were recently held in Seattle and included a presentation from members of the University of Washington. Courtney Saben/Emily Kolby/Sarah O'Rourke/LeAnne Wiles from First Year Programs and Kyla Mayer/Dan Feetham from Undergraduate Academic Advising led a session titled Centering Student Care: A Collaborative Approach Between Advising & Orientation. • Identify ways that orientation offices and advising offices can partner to help students transition academically and socially.
• Understand how to define "student care" and embed high-impact strategies throughout the student onboarding process.
• Be able to list several platforms and strategies to make large-scale programming feel more individualized for students.
