NSTP is committed to a student-centered approach to communication. We encourage students to take the lead in managing their academic experience, including scheduling and making changes to their Advising & Orientation (A&O) appointments. Because these appointments are part of the student's university record, requests to schedule, cancel, or change appointments should come directly from the student whenever possible.
If a parent, guardian, or other family member contacts NSTP regarding an appointment, staff will include the student on the communication so they are informed and can take the appropriate action. This approach models how the university communicates with students throughout their academic journey and helps students develop the skills and responsibility expected in a university setting.
NSTP values the important role that families play in supporting student success and encourages students to communicate openly with their family members. At the same time, students are responsible for managing their own academic records and university business, and we empower them to take ownership of these processes.
